Box loads of donated books reached
their ‘new home’ at Kaş Primary School

The books — hundreds of them — donated by İstanbul International Community School (IICS) to Kaş Primary School were delivered to their ‘new home’ by Education Consultant Sema Alpaytaç, a former teacher of IICS, on Monday November 1, 2010. 

The event, hosted by the Primary School Headmaster Galip Karakan, took place with the participation of the Ministry of Education Regional Manager Ferman Akbulut as well as members of the Parents’ Committee, teachers and the students.

“It is always good for our students to get encouragement to read and get support in their learning” said Headmaster Karakan.  “We feel very fortunate to receive such support from the IICS Community and we are confident that this support will add value to our teaching” as the books were delivered to the school library. “

Sema Alpaytaç, who personally initiated the “Read, Learn, Share, Kaş” project, in cooperation with the Kaş Ministry of Education Officials, said “seeing the curious looks in these children’s eyes alone is worth all the efforts and even more.  We will try our best to continue supporting Kaş Primary School in any way we can”.

The donated books include classics as well as contemporary works, most of them in English.
